Reason for this Quit Smoking Site |
| Now please don't get me wrong. I'm guessing my currently smoking visitors are calling me an anti-smoking NAZI, and the nonsmokers are calling me comrade. I don't see anything wrong with smoking if you do it politely. Now if you too don't want to stop smoking because you like it, and can afford it, then this site isn't for you. I wanted to share reasons to stop smoking, since when I decided to quit smoking, reasons kept me going. I hope I can share with you my experiences, background, and provide for an open forum to list stop smoking reasons. Thank you for visiting. |

My Smoking and Quit Smoking Story |
I began smoking almost 18, for years I wasn't bothered by the smell and when I light my Mom's cigarettes (when she was sick and we had no matches I used the stove burner, and I was yelled at if I didn't puff it since it would just char the paper) I got a good buzz. Very Relaxing. I was stressed out one day and wanting to relax without addressing the stress, I asked for a cigarette and I was hooked. The instant gratification was what my mind wanted, so I continued.
For about 5+ years I smoked 3-4 packs a day(anything less than a pack day, I joked was a hobby not a habit) Kool Cigarettes. Mixed in chewing tobacco, and when working outdoors, I would use a pipe (dirty hands on a good cigarette was bad). Realizing I couldn't afford my smoking habit I decided to reduce my smoking to about 2 packs a day and switched to Marlboro. Marlboro offered rewards and were on sale with special deals more often, so it suited my income level. Then it hit me, I realized I was poor, and getting poorer since my Wife was going to quit working and start full-time college. I had only one choice and that was to eliminate the unnecessary hobbies and habits I could to continue paying bills. Cigarettes was not the first to go, but it went. I tried the patch, got sick, and then realized I just had to say, "NO". Like a drunk realizing I had to many, I just had to make a decision to stop smoking, and I did. I keep my last pack of cigarettes in my car (now 10+ years old) jokingly telling myself that when I can afford to smoke again I will. Cigarette Smoke-free for over a decade now. |

Why are Reasons to Quit Smoking Important? |
| If you can reason with a problem, you can find solutions to it. I had previously tried gimmicks and medical treatment to quit smoking. When I put 100% of my trust in them, it was a gambling on a sure thing to loose since I put 0% trust in me. If I failed to stop smoking, obvious it was the program or product's fault. If I succeeded, I would have to stop using the stop smoking programs or stop smoking products, once gone I was doomed to start back up. I needed to reason with quitting, if I wasn't determined to stop smoking then I would fail. So, I had to arm myself with reasoning in order to quit smoking or no matter what treatment I used I was doomed. I hope we too can help arm you with good reasons to quit your smoking habit. |

Can nonsmokers help smokers quit? |
You bet! I found inspiration in former smokers telling me how they quit smoking, and if you are an exsmoker, you need to share your stories, and reasons with those trying to quit the cigarette smoking habit. I find when a smoker finds out that I previously smoked, they instantly ask how did I quit smoking, and how can I suggest a way fro them to quit. Face it, regardless of the health risks associated with smoking, the financial damage is immediate. Cigarettes were expensive before states partnered with cigarette companies to price fix packs of cigarettes This racketeering makes smoking expensive, and hurts everyone. So stop smoking, for states to stop cashing on the habits of a minority group, and fix their financial woes somewhere else.
Quit smoking results vary from smoker to smoker, so some succeed, some fail. But you only truly fail to quit smoking if you stop trying to give up. Many people are faced with the final quitting solution, dying or running out of money. Neither is a very nice option, so why not quit today and enjoy both your money, and your life! GOOD LUCK and KEEP TRYING TO QUIT! |
